Studies in Folklore
Our Autumn Winter 2026 collection, Marking the Turn, features pieces created in collaboration with artist Emma Carlow. Based in Lewes, East Sussex, she draws inspiration from folk art and shapes found in nature.
“For me, making is central to my life,” Emma says. “It's how I kind of interpret the world, really.”
The designs, which appear across our womenswear and home collections, are an evolution of Emma’s paper cut-out work. I work with clay primarily, but if I want to interpret ideas quickly, I always reach for paper and scissors. The simplicity of paper cutting is so good, because it just requires a bit of imagination.”
Birds, flowers, and tree of life motifs are screen-printed onto fabric using a discharge method, which lifts the original colour to reveal the pattern beneath.
